16th February 2009|Christchurch Junior School Pool Closing

Christchurch Junior School who the Aqua Swim School provides lessons for has just announced they will be closing their outdoor pool, which they were hoping to roof in the summer.

This is devasting news for the borough of Christchurch where; in the last 9 months all three School Pools have disappeared. This inadevrtantly puts pressure on the activities and use of 2RM Lesiure Centre due to their being no other pools in the immediate area for clubs and schools to use, all ready resulting in schools having to travel outside of the borough for lessons in neighbouring Bournemouth.

9th February 2009|Twynham Closing, Wentworth Starting

We have recived news that Twynham School Pool will be closing down in April 2009 to make room for a Dance Studio. We have had to relocate the lessons to Wentworth College.

Further more following unacceptable pool temperature and clairty it is with great regret that Wednesday 11th February will be our last lesson at Twynham School. We feel the pool is being mis-managed and the inconsistency of heat in the pool is simply not being effective for our lessons. The school have also explained there is a problem with their boiler that they are not prepared to fix to placte the pool running for a further 6 weeks until its permanent closure.

Attatched are the following letters:

1. Letters sent out from Twynham school which could be viewed as being steered towards closure.

Parents Letter

Consulatation Letter

2. Barry Alldrick's response, for which no reply was offered other than results saying that more people would prefer the pool to disappear as it no longer suits the schools needs as it did just 13 years ago when it was roofed and housed.

Barry Alldricks Response

Lessons at Wentworth School will start on February 25th, the address is below:

College Road, Southbourne, Bournemouth, BH5 2DY
If you are travelling to Wentworth for the first time, the swimming pool is located behind the main housing and please follow signs down the gravel track.

1st September 2008| Channel Swim Success

Barry Alldrick completed the Channel Relay swim over the summer holidays. After waiting in Dover for 5 days to get a half decent tide. Barry set the team off at 2am in the morning. This involved embarking at Dover Harbour and then ferrying round to a stretch of land in between Dover and Folkestone where he had to dive of the boat and swim to English land, before completing the first hour of the relay teams swim. The team then swam through night and day through Jelly Fish and plenty of kelp, but fortunately no seweage. at 2.03pm Barry finished the chanel swim by swimming up the ramp of a French restaurant. the total swim time was 12 hurs and three minutes. Barry will go back and complete the challenge as an Individual in the next couple of years.

1st of August 2008 | Seagulls swimmer, top 11 in the Country - twice!

Barry took his first National Championship Qualifier up to Sheffiled for the Age Group Championships. The 11 year old Peter Griffiths improved his ranking by 1 in the 200m Freestyle, to make first reserve for the final, and finish in 11th position. Peter then repeated the same position on the 100m Freestyle. This was Peter's first National Championships and to do a pb in the 200m was a great swim. The atmosphere is completely different and all swimmers are committed at this level, which would make it easy to let nerves get the better of you. this did not happen and Peter held is own and will be going back next year with the aim of medalling.

23rd June 2008 | Top Up Swimming Success

Barry, Charlotte and Carolyn had their work cut out over the last two weeks, working in partnership with the Christchurch School Sports Partnership and the Amateur Swimming Association's Top Up Swimming Scheme.

The Seagulls and Aquakidz coaching team had a challenge to ensure all children who attend a Christchurch Primary School in Year 6 that could not swim 25m should be able to by the end of 10 sessions, an hour a day.

The children descended on Twynham School pool daily, and out of 28 swimmers, 25 were able to swim at least the distance of 25m on their front and back, with 3 others managing 15m!

16th June 2008 | Seagulls Flying Higher!

Further medal success came for Peter Griffiths and Isabelle Frampton in the second weekend of Western Age Group Championships.

Frampton gained another Gold in the 100m Butterfly holding off strong competition through out the race. Griffiths gained his first Gold at Western Level in the 400m Freestyle, and then cried with dissapointment, as he realised he had just missed his National qualifying Time by one quarter of a second.

Griffiths then went on to pick up a Bronze Medal in the 100m Freestyle, and 200m IM. All in all Seagulls finished 10th in the Medal Table which is a huge jump from 23rd places last year when Seagulls picked up just two Bronze medals.

9th June 2008 | Seagulls Fly High!

Medal success has been gained by Seagulls swimmers at the Western Age Group Championships over the first weekend. This saw Sophie Duffell (12) picked up a Silver medal in the 1500m Freestyle. A great result and down to some hard and consistant training in a 50m pool in spain the week before.

This was followed up by two Silver Medals by the very determined Peter Griffiths (11)who gained Barry's first National Championship Qualifyer in the 100m and 200m Freestyle. Then Isabelle Frampton (11) went on to take Gold in the 200m Butterfly. This was a very pleasing weekend for Barry as Seagulls swimming club is starting to become a force in Western district swimming.

2nd June 2008 | Charlotte Beats Barry!!!!!

Charlotte Roberts and Barry Alldrick both succesfully completed the Exmouth Faribouy swim on Sunday. This is the season's first Open Water swim and sea temperatures ranged between 11- 13 degrees celcius, the 4.8 miles swim is not meant to be easy!

In a tough field of 50 swimmers against 18 ex channel swimmers Charlotte produced an excellent swim coimng home in 8th place, taking the bronze medal for the ladies, in 1 hour and 42 minutes. Barry finished 7 minutes later in 18th place in 1 hour and 49 minutes. All together the swim was a step in the right direction towards the Channel Relay Barry will be completing in August.

Charlotte is considering a move back into Open Water swimming where she was once National Champion and crowned Champion of Champions after completing 3 different distance swims in one day and winning them all.

2nd June 2008 | Seagulls migrate down to Spain

He is hoping the results from this week will take swimmers on to podium places in the District Age Group Championships in June.

28th May 2008 | Southern Junior League Final- here we come!
